Course Description:
Wednesdays - September 13 to October 4, 2023
11am to 1pm , Live & in Person, on location.
This 4 week plein air series class will offer students the opportunity to explore an expanded watercolor palette and technique repertoire designed for seaside exploration. Meeting together and strictly following social distancing protocols, we will explore several beautiful local coastal spots. Crashing ocean waves, sea bluffs, rocky coastlines, serene beach scenes, boats and floats and more! Locations/Schedule will be provided upon registration.
Additional Online Critique sessions via Zoom - Tuesdays, 3pm PST

Brushes: Bring your favorite watercolor brushes, we can work with what you have. If you are new to watercolor, a decent selection that includes the following would be helpful: 1 inch flat, 1⁄2 inch flat, #12 round, #8 round, #6 round. Good quality synthetic brushes are fine. For the smaller brushes, make sure they have a good sharp point.
Palette: Travel Watercolor palette
Paper: Arches 140lb paper, Cold Pressed, either sheets (cut in half) or blocks (10 x 14 inch maximum)
Artists tape
Masking fluid - Fine Line and/or Pebeo Drawing Gum (will discuss both in class)
Paints in tubes or pans (for convenience while on location)
2 water containers - recycled yogurt containers work great
Spray bottle
Paper towels
Sponge
Outdoor gear: camp chair, hat, sunscreen, water, snacks, etc.
